Has anyone here ever actually been to or hosted a White Elephant Gift Exchange? Sometimes we as humans just wanna be pricks to each other for the fun of it and that's the name of this game! It's like the gift-giving version of Cards Against Humanity! There are times when I just wanna see a fat squealing bitch suffer for no reason other than my own amusement, that doesn't make me a bad person it's just something that can be very funny. It's why with Family Guy I take whatever I can get in terms of Peter Griffin getting the shit kicked,out of him regardless of if he deserves it or not, and Regular Show is no different with Mitch "Muscle Man" Sorenstein!
Sometimes Karma can be a form of Justice when you pull it off right and it's just... it's just tops! We all know that one guy who gives out bad gifts whether by intention or not, and Muscle Man takes what should be a fun game of joking around and makes it awful for everybody! I mean he TURNED HIS OWN UNDERWEAR INTO GLOVES AS A PRESENT! You think asweater made of EYELASHES is a terrible gift? At least SpongeBob put genuine heart and love into it; try sweaters full of itching powder! There is such a thing as taking a joke way too far, especially when you're the most repetitive guy everyone knows!
At first the episode wants you to think it's making everyone out as the villains for overreacting to Muscle Man's "gifts" with how sinister and planny everyone is about this (complete with group evil laugh) but with how unpleasant Mitch is... yeah even you wanna see what kinda gift they got planned for his fat ass! It TRICKS YOU into thinking the guy is gonna give everyone a gift they'll love and cherish! He even fools the god of White Elephant Gifts (who I've lovingly dubbed Mr. Dick in a Box)! This in turn just makes Muscle Man's pranking all the more satisfying and pays him back not just for his horrible gifts, but all the shit he's pulled over the past 5 seasons!
After this episode Mitch actually gets better as a character and we get things like "Married and Broke" and he actually shows how responsible and funny he can be. So this isn't just a great moment of karma for one of the worst characters of the show, but a stepping stone to finally have the guy move on and git gud! And yes I know the guy had good episodes before this, I'm just saying he could be a bit much beifre this episode... and because you know I HAD to close out my review with THAT song:
