Description

Show: Courage the Cowardly Dog
Episode: S1 E7a
Year: 2000

Writer(s): Bill Marsilii

Even to those that never liked Courage the Cowardly Dog, this guy right here will stay with you for many years to come. King Ramses is one of the most recognizable characters from this show, as well as one of the most infamous. You couldn't mistake him: he was made with intentionally badly done CGI and given the movement style of the characters from Parappa the Rapper games, creating an unholy nightmare merge of 2D and 3D. King Ramses gave many children of the era nightmares with his uncanny movement and creepy-as-hell voice and speaking pattern.

I absolutely adore Egyptian stuff; after all, Yu-Gi-Oh! is my favorite trading card game of all time, and the anime and manga was awesome as well. How could I not love this episode? From its atmosphere, the plagues and the villain himself, this is one of Courage's classics, although not the best episode by a long shot. Yeah, it is great, but King Ramses' charm hasn't aged entirely well. Then again, show this to any young child and see what might happen; some have nerves of steel while others will be looking out their windows, watching and listening for the call of the ghostly king: "Return the slaaaaaab, or suffer my cuuuuurse…"
