1001 Animations: I'm just a Bill

Description

Show: Schoolhouse Rock!
Episode: America Rock Episode 5
Year: 1976

Writer(s): Dave Frischberg

Next to "Conjunction Junction", this is easily the best-remembered and catchiest of the Schoolhouse Rock! curriculum. This song shows how bills become laws in Congress, and I'm amazed that you can make something like that sound not only interesting, but also entertaining! Jack Sheldon as the bill has one of the slickest and most amazing singing voices I've ever heard! Plus, you're sympathizing with a BILL! How the fuck do you do that?

There's a good reason Schoolhouse Rock! went onto last for over 30 years (until the ill-fated Earth Rock season Disney made that killed it entirely): it's almost scary how well a lot of the songs, even the more modern ones hold up like "Tyrannosaurus Debt" or even worse "Three Ring Government". This short in particular has been parodied by everything from Family Guy to Johnny Bravo and for very good reason. Like every Schoolhouse Rock! song, this isn't even 5 minutes, so it won't take up much of your time to give it a quick watch to see why it made #2 of the top 25 Schoolhouse Rock! songs.

Schoolhouse Rock! is owned by Disney.

Oh I remember that short. It was a catchy song series back in the day. Heck, I even recognized Bill's voice from the Johnny Bravo episode, The Sensitive Male.
