This game was another big part of my childhood that I've only recently gotten back into proper with the original SNES version as opposed to the GBA port which felt washed out even though it's playable. It's one of the most calming and adorable games I've ever played in my life. It's got this wonderful storybook astetic with its graphical design and levels that just makes me feel cuddly! The music heard here is some of the best in any Mario game which later Yoshi games just couldn't capture properly.


Unlike previous Mario platformers you can take as much time as you want going through the levels at your own pace and discovering all the secrets. With the only limit being... this games only real flaw. When you get hit you have to retrieve Baby Mario in a set amount of time, and that fucking crying! They added that in so you could actually give a fuck about Baby Mario and not just run off without him! It's not the worst crying I've ever heard and it goes away quick enough if you're smart enough; however it's enough to make me wanna wrap my rascal to prevent this... though it's a nitpick at worst in otherwise one of my top video games ever. Also they managed to make Bowser legitimately terrifying as a baby which, is impressive.
