With most anime you have to watch them in the exact order they air in order to fully understand the story, otherwise you'll be totally lost. Space Dandy isn't one of those anime, not by a longshot. Much in the similar vein to  The Amazing World of Gumball or Courage the Cowardly Dog its narrative is very episodic and heavily relies on negative continuity; like having Dandy and his crew get vaporized in the very first episode and coming back good as new the next, or having the entire universe get zombified and whatnot. My point is Space Dandy can basically tell whatever story it wants with little regards to continuity if any and they ran with it all the way. Think Rick and Morty meets Cowboy Bebop. But that isn't to say they don't reference past epsiodes as you'll see here.

Remember way back in episode 1 when Dandy pulled a cosmic string? It warped space and time sending Dandy and his crew through a wormhole, and possibly into an alternate universe. The Multiverse theory is definitely a plot type that I find extremely fascinating and it's one of the few plot types I've never seen done badly and just can't hate, even when Family Guy did this it was at least entertaining. These "space pubes", when pulled lead into various different alternate universes with their own Dandy, QT and Meow, each in with their own unique shapes, sized and even species!

For example, in one universe Dandy is a space truck driver (yep, space trucks) with a voice like Patrick Warburton, and Meow's a hot girl! In one it's basically Dragon Ball with Dandy as Michael Jackson. Then there's Dandy as a Macross pilot, space inspector Dandy, Bearbrick Dandy, Ninja Dandy, Mascot Dandy, Bill Cipher Trifiorce Triangle Dandy, hell there's even a TITAN DANDY! Any and every possible reality exists within the Space Dandy multiverse, the characters come in such an amazing variety you're gonna have fun just seeing how many you can spot! And the really fun thing about this is that Dandy QT and Meow's Dub actors (Ian Sinclair, Allison Viktor and Joel McDonald) all voice their alternate selves using tons of different voices showing their skills off right proppa! Ian's performances are especially well done considering he's apparently becoming Funimation's new rising star on the level of Chris Sabat or Kyle Hebert; considering he's also voiced Toriko and Brook in One Piece I'm not at all surprised.

Eventually all the various Dandy's Meow's and QT's end up on the main Aloha Oe and become not only a major space case, but all this universe jumping has caused a major universal distortion, jobs with 7 days off a week, bills about not passing bills, general half-assedness and the worst thing of all, OKAMA BOOBIES! Yeah, when your Hooters has been taken over by burly men in bikinis that crosses all the lines. They need to find a way to get everyone back to their own worlds but the Dandy's keep pulling more cosmic strings that have appeared everywhere causing more and more to appear! I don't even wanna spoil the ending for this one but let's just say it is the true definition of a mindfuck.

Space Dandy is owned by Bones Inc., Bandai and Funimation.
